Airmail letters to the UK can take from 3 days to 3 weeks.

There are postal deliveries to some individual addresses but the most reliable method of receiving mail is to rent a PO Box at the post office. This service is available in most major towns and some villages, but be warned there is quite often a waiting list.
Telecommunications offices are in the major towns and can be used by the general public, services include: telex, telephone and fax. In Girne, the public fax machine is located in the Post Office opposite the Telecommunications Office. The recipient pays the nominal service charge on each fax received. Telephone calls can also be made from hotels but charges are usually much more expensive.
International direct dialling is possible from a private telephone.

There are two main telephone networks Turkcell and Telsim. Pay as you go accounts are available and top up cards (Kontor) are inexpensive.
The code for Turkcell numbers is 0533, and numbers begin with an 8 followed by an even number. The Telsim code is 0542, numbers begin with an 8 followed by an odd number.
There are many internet cafes in Northern Cyprus .
