Life in North Cyprus rambles along at a slow and leisurely pace.
As the saying goes "there is time and then there is Cyprus time".
One of the first Turkish phrases you will learn is "yavas yavas' (pronounced yavash) which translates into 'Slowly Slowly'.

Sport is very popular with the Turkish Cypriots.
Football is one of the favourites and most villages have their own keenly supported teams.
Turkish Cypriot men enjoy hunting. There is a specific hunting season. Shooting ranges are another well liked activity.
Other activities to enjoy include mountain biking, trekking and during the warmer months regular walks are organised to appreciate the many varieties of flora, such as wild orchids.
Also in the Summer visitors have the opportunity to go "Turtle Watching" and witness first hand the turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs in the sand.
Theatre, music and dance festivals are regular occurences in North Cyprus as are art exhibitions.
There are a number of Cinemas showing a mixture of Turkish films and box office hits from the UK and America.
For the more adventurous there is paragliding, tandem parachuting (from the top of a mountain!), Scuba diving and go-carting.
As with all organised activities we strongly recommend using a fully qualified instructor and ensuring that operators are insured.
North Cyprus is the perfect place to come if its relaxation you are looking for, painting holidays are available through specialised companies and with so many beautiful surroundings artists are spoilt for choice when requiring inspiration.
Of course there is always the option to just lay back on the beach or around the pool with a good book and an ice cold drink!
