FM SERDAR DENKTASH IN NEW YORK: --DENKTASH: "MOST OF THE COUNTRIES ARE UNAWARE OF THE INJUSTICE AGAINST THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS"
New York, 22 September 05 (T.A.K.):-Most of the countries are unaware of the injustice against the Turkish Cypriots said the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Serdar Denktash after meeting with his counterparts and officials from other countries. Serdar Denktash, who is in New York to attend the Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Organization Of Islamic Conferences, is having intensive meeting with foreign officials. Since yesterday Denktash has come together with FM of Somali Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, FM and Deputy President of International Cooperation, Abdulkadir Sherif and Deputy President of UN Development Program Marta Reudes. FM Denktash said that the officials at his contacts acknowledged that the injustice against the Turkish Cypriots were getting worst and that Greek Cypriots after becoming EU member has deepened the embargoes by using the EU rules and regulations. Following his meetings Serdar Denktash got the impression that most countries are unaware of the discrimination against the Turkish Cypriots. Denktash also admitted that in the virtue of the long one-sided Greek propaganda the current situation was difficult. "It has come to the surface that it is inevitable the UN must reach to all its members and maintain his contacts with them. What we must do is to increase these contacts. It's not possible to get anywhere with internal propaganda. Propaganda must be done at every corner where we can reach by the government, opposition and NGO's. We must ensure the unanimity of expression in Cyprus. If we succeed this we shall be able to express ourselves better outside". Denktash also noted that the Islamic countries represented one quarter of the seats in the UN and therefore contacts with these countries have immense importance on lifting the embargoes and for new openings that will give fresh breath to Turkish Cypriots.
Businesses to participate in ExCeL
A NUMBER of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot real-estate businesses will be travelling to the UK to meet with British customers at a series of exhibitions to be held at the ExCeL Centre in London's Docklands in the coming weeks.
The Property Investor Show will take place at the exhibition centre from 23-25 September, and will be followed by a second exhibition, A Place in the Sun, which will run from 30 September - 2 October. Hosted by Channel 4 events organisers, this second fair is intended to supplement the popular TV show by the same name.
It is expected that there will be substantial representation of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot real-estate companies in attendance at The Property Investor Show, for which preparations are already underway. In addition, the display stands of these businesses are likely to generate an equally substantial degree of interest from the British public, who have shown an increasing interest in the Aegean and Mediterranean coastal resorts of Turkey and North Cyprus in recent years. The show will be providing free seminars on subjects such as motgages, investment and risk management, to cater for what is predicted to be a customer turn-out of thousands.
A Place in the Sun - England's largest fair for property, travel and luxury lifestyles abroad - will have the express purpose of exhibiting thousands of currently available international properties. Attendees of the fair will also have the rare opportunity to audition for an appearance on its counterpart Channel 4 programme, hosted by renowned ex-model, Amanda Lamb. It is predicted that the exhibition will attract over 300 companies from at least 30 different countries, and that thousands of homes will be sold over the course of the three days.
